Well, I noticed that the shipping weight is 550# and the machine weight is 600#. Do you suppose they fill the box with helium?
Seriously, though, the thing that drives me crazy about new lathes for CNC conversion is that you are paying for a bunch of stuff you neither need nor want. * change gears -- who cares * power feed -- don't need it * left hand threads -- bah - the same with metric threads * motor and speed control -- may be ok. But I'd rather have a three phase motor and a VFD. * 18 speeds (plus variable speed) -- six plus a VFD is probably more than enough The belt drive in the picture looks a little flimsy. They say that they are in Pittsburgh and are machinists. See if you can drop bye and see how deep a cut you can take with a carbide tool in some steel. The proof is in the cutting.
