Its live and running right now, with a 1.5 HP 120 volt motor, presumably on a 15 amp circuit. If worse comes to worse I can probably hack up a dc supply & figure out how to mount a 3 HP treadmill motor. OTOH, vfd's up to 7.5 are available if I could find a suitable multipole motor that could survive the vfd's rev capability. I have a 1.5 HP vfd and motor, but it would need geared down about 30x to run the Sheldon as its top end is 24,000 rpm and I have not grokked how to remove the er16 chuck on it now so I could put a pulley on it. That would also present the conundrum of how to keep it from unscrewing the chuck when its reversed at the deep end of a rigid tap peck since the Sheldon's chuck is screw thread mounted to the spindle.
