The first Clausing I found as an example for you was a 10"X36", for a
bit more money, but I thought that might be a bit much in your small
shop. I recall your concerns about the relatively thin concrete slab floor.

The Sheldon lathe sounds nice too. Not sure about the CNC conversion,
but you can figure that out when you look at it.

A good lathe is likely to have a three phase motor. You'll probably
want to power it with a single phase VFD with a three phase output, but
that severely limits the lathe horsepower. A little thinking about that
in advance, and some internet research, could save you from buying a
lathe only to realize you need an expensive rotary phase converter...
and even then you'd probably still need to upgrade your single phase
power. It's easy to succumb to lathe lust and forget obvious details
like this until it's too late.

Asset forfeiture is THEFT. I-40 in Tennessee has a very bad (and very
well deserved) reputation for this sort of state sanctioned highway
robbery. YouTube has some great local news reporting and other stories
describing this shocking practice. Search YouTube for "highway asset
forfeiture" for a real education. Most people have no idea this sort of
thing can happen, until it happens to them. This is good to remember for
anyone making a trip to buy used machinery with cash, as I've done in
the past.

Mobile security can be enabling, not merely restricting. Employees who
bring their own devices (BYOD) to work are irked by the imposition of MDM
restrictions. Mobile Device Manager Plus allows you to control only the
apps on BYO-devices by containerizing them, leaving personal data untouched!
