I am in that same boat although I regularly use paypal to buy stuff online, there are some refunds there that I have never been able to find and collect, perhaps a bit over a hundred dollar bill in total, some of it over a decade old. But I'll be damned if I can find it or claim it. So in this case, it seems like cash or a pre-discussed at my bank wire transfer might be the thing. That of course means it has to be done inside banking hours too.
I have not actually talked to the seller yet, he is out of pocket this next week, "at the beach" fishing or whatever. An intermediary is relaying messages ATM, and has assured me my offer was accepted. So I am preparing my WV Cadillac for the trip to load it, tie it down & bring it back. Preps may include some air bag helpers for the rear springs. If I can find some in time. 1/2 ton rated old rust bucket, and its some north of 1/2 ton. Thanks Jon.
