Great - thank you so much !
Thanks to you I managed to recover all my data. It's great to see that this kind of solidarity exists among people using the mac/OfficeX - I really appreciate this!

Take care,
Kurt

You must have put them in the _wrong User_ Documents folder. Or you haven't
quite understood. You must not have more then one MUD folder in the users'
Documents folder.

Move all the individual named Identity folders from the Office X Identities
folder in your old MUD folder to the Office X Identities folder in your new
MUD folder in your user Documents. Since both your old and your new (empty)
main identity may both be called "Main Identity" or "Your Name", you'll have
to rename one of them so they can co-exist in the same Office X Identities
folder.

Now open Entourage, and switch identities if need be. You will be able to do
so.

Do NOT try to open a database file in a text editor. Do NOT move named
identity folders from any Office 2001 Identities folder into an Office X
Identities folder. (If you need to get data from an Entourage 2001 identity,
use File/Import to import from that 2001 identity folder).

Once you found your old identity successfully, if you want to bring over
this new stuff from your temporary almost-blank identity, come back here and
ask how.

PLEASE always state which version of Entourage you are using - 2001 or X.
It's often impossible to answer your questions otherwise.

Subject: Re: lost all data in entourage

Thank you all for the suggestions, combining them I seem to be getting
progress...

- I found that there indeed was more than one Microsoft User Data Folder
(with databases inside) on my HD
- I put them all in the Documents Folder under the User Folder.

-Norton Utility detected two severe problems in the Catalog B-Tree (they
were repaired)

-I managed to open the database with Textedit, the mails (some?) seem to
be spread between big chunks of cryptical symbols... Should I not be
able to open the database with Entourage (when I try this there is still
only the welcoming message)? I suppose this sounds like a stupid
question, but hey : how do you normally open the database? with
Entourage? another program?

I really appreciate you all helping me!

Kurt

Now do a Sherlock search for this new identity. This will tell you
where
Entourage is looking for Identities.

Paul just reminded me that under Jaguar, it's now just File/Find… in the Finder and not Sherlock.

It also occurs to me that perhaps if you did update to Jaguar from
10.1.5
(it wasn't entirely clear in your original post if you still use OS
10.1.5),
and you used the "Archive and Install" option, your Documents folder
from
your old active user would no longer be the active one, and Entourage
would
no longer recognize it. You would have needed to have moved the
"Microsoft
User Data" folder from the old Documents folder to the current Documents
folder for Entourage to be able to access your identity.
