In the past I've been a fairly hardcore Nikon bigot but I've recently opened
my eyes and mind to the fact that other companies really do produce high
quality photographic equipment. It is because of this that I've noticed
that Canon seems to offer a better value (price, performance, and
technology) than does comparably priced Nikon equipment.

When I look at things like USM vs. pin drive focusing, eye controlled focus,
mirror lockup, wireless flash, motor drives, and accessories - Canon just
appears to provide the consumer with a better value. I realize that some
(not all) of these features are available from Nikon but at a significantly
higher price.

In considering the purchase of a new $1000 35mm body, when I compare the
two, Canon simply seems to offer more functionality for the dollar.
Something about this makes it hard for me to get excited about staying with
Nikon when it appears that I'm getting less return for my investment - name
recognition only goes so far.

Is this vision I'm having logical or have I just forgotten to take my
medication?
