Except for the fact that Canon has alway promoted the 1Ds series as the "image quality" camera and the 1D series as the photojournalism camera. It is possible that if you are looking to make smaller images in very low light conditions a 1D is the right camera for you, because you fit into the neet-set of a photojournalist.
