I'd like to personally thank Paul Anton for selling his Coupe and
buying a Tripacer, so I could finally wrangel the Washington State
license plate, ERCOUPE, away from him. Mary and I are going to put it
on our little Miata (about the same size cockpit, by the way). Do any
of the rest of you have that plate issued to you in any other states
out there?

RI is a remarkably primitive and backward state, either despite its age
or because of it - whatever. "Vanity" plates here are limited to six
(6) characters even though a casual observer can see that there is
plainly room for seven. It was only last year or so that they allowed
"package" stores (that means beer, wine & likker) to be open on Sunday,
and then only from noon to 6. Can't get beer anywhere but in the
"package" store. Very, very strange place. I have extra perspective
as I was raised in Wisconsin, so the peculiarities really stand out to
me. Including my aircraft - according to the FAA site, I have the only
Ercoupe registered in the state. So, if I wanted a "vanity" plate,
would I go for ECOUPE? Doesn't look good to me.
