[expert] Font size in 7.1

I just upgraded from 7.0 to 7.1, and I'm noticing that font sizes in apps like
kmail are quite larger than they were in 7.0. 

Can someone explain what's going on, and if font sizes are set globally
somewhere? Thanks.
