Hmm... It all depends on what you want to do I suppose. If there is an
"update" for 8.1 so that you can get to 2.2.2, then by all means use
that, and only the packages needed for it to work. If you want to get
somewhat more experimental then go for the cooker version, which I think
has been more recently udpated, to the newest python I believe.

Mind you though, most of the packages that have been put up seem pretty
stable to me. Maybe it's just my experiences with windows, solaris, and
mac os 6-X that have lead me to beleive that one restart in 72 hours of
almost non stop use is a amazing thing.
