Brain physiology is consciousness's way of interacting with the world. Samadhi is the state where consciousness interacts with itself without paying attention to the outside world. The physical connections and other tissues of the brain are perhaps only one tiny portion of the iceberg of consciousness, but they're a mighty important tiny portion, it seems.
