You obviously haven't used the Canon image stabilized lens. Using these
lens, a good photographer, with practice can hand hold and get a reasonable
percentage of  acceptably sharp shots at shutter speed  1/6 th what is
normally considered to be required, ie; 1/8th  sec at 50mm focal length. Not
every frame will be razor sharpe but an amazing nunber will be with proper
technique. This has been my experience and verified and published in a
number of magazines. You can do even better with a monopod which is what I
mostly use at 600mm with iso100 film when out shooting birds. Sorry to be
