Actually, if you go into the Instrument List (under the Window menu) and you
click on that little triangle in the column: Staff Name, then you can create
a new instrument especially for Chords - that should do what you wanted -
this is in 2002 - don't know if they changed it or stuck it somewhere else
in 2003...
