Apologies if this has already been suggested:

There's a slightly quicker way in the order you convert to grace notes.

Let's say you're trying to input a pair of 16th note grace notes and you want them 
beamed.

Try putting the two notes in using Speedy. If you then convert them to grace notes (I 
use the ';' key), but convert them 'backwards', ie convert the *second* note then the 
first, you should find that they beam correctly. If you convert the *first* followed 
by the second they do not beam.

Don't know if that one's documented or not!
