Maybe on a legacy system. On a new, or newer Macs, I think you'd be better off maxing out your Ram and letting OS X do all the caching for you.

Also, I believe that article is rather old. Like back in the Mac OS X 10.1 days.

Sounds to me like using a RAM Disk is worth further investigation by other OSX Finale users.
