Two things here:
1. You can argue that Finale (or any other music notation program)
really can't handle anything. I can easily extend that into saying that
music notation programs actually can't handle slurs, beams or stems! All
current music notation software works the same way: You get a fixed
feature set, with a little luck you can use that feature set, or you
wait for an upgrade...
2. It's not the tech support's job to have opinions on the feature set,
as they should know. Tell them (with clear examples) what you need and
they should pass it along to the people who makes the decisions.
