It works.  I set it in the XDarwin prefs, launched it from the icon and
KDE came up.  So then I quit, reverted to 'Use default login shell' and
tried again, X stalled at the initial black/gray screen.  Set it back to
use /sw/bin/bash and it launched fine.  My laptop has been rebooted ~4
times since changing my default shell.

So, the question I'm trying to answer now is 'where does XDarwin look
for a user's default shell' because it doesn't seem to be NetInfo.
