Exactly right. I think the term 'yellow dun' is
misleading. when one thinks of 'dun' one thinks
'black midstripe, black mane and tail'. Such is not
the case with a 'yellow dun'. I believe the reason
they still call it dun is because, if you looked VERY
carefully, you might see some VERY SLIGHTLY darker
yellow color on the eel stripe and in the center of
the mane and tail. However, it would probably be
hardly noticeable at all. To avoid confusion maybe
this color should be called 'yellow Fjord' or
'Isabella', since that term is already in use to
describe the color.
According to the Spoonenburg article all Fjords have the Dun Gene. So I
still think calling them Dun is the correct terminology. Most of them do
have some eel strip although it is very light or missing in some places.
At our house we just say "Faksi
colored", since she is the only one that color that we
know of. I keep threatening to make the trip to
Norway just once - just to see Faksi for myself. She
and Belinda are the only ones of Line's foals I have
not seen 'in person'.
Actually I just registered another Yellow Dun a few weeks ago. His name is
LSI Halston. He is out of a grey Stallion - Holivar & a Brown mare
FREYJA. Here is the pedigree:
