To each their own, of course, and if this setup works for you that's great. There's a lot to be said for dedicating machines to a particular task. The downside of this approach is that it requires converting the audio data from digital format to analog and back to digital again... and all the re-sampling and potential issues this implies. Also, in terms of connecting the serial ports: Note that that there's any guarantee that the programs at both ends will work properly via any particular "null modem" cable -- note that the actual DEFINITION of what comprises such a cable varies widely and cables that work for one set of applications won't necessarily work for others. In this regard, it's entirely likely that the radio shack cable provides *less* functionality than the vCOM driver. I suspect the requirements imposed on the serial connection by most digital mode programs are minimal. That's probably why I've never experienced a problem with Phil's vCOM driver (given that I work digital modes exclusively). de Peter K1PGV _______________________________________________ FlexRadio mailing list [email protected] http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archive Link: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ FlexRadio Knowledge Base: http://kb.flex-radio.com/ FlexRadio Homepage: http://www.flex-radio.com/
