Yes, Michael, and you can add astronomy to model railroading! If you want a large mirror you will order and pay for it and then it might take more than a year for something to appear on the doorstep! And I am ashamed to admit that some of these complainers are almost as old as I am. In otherwords, old enough to know better. But then, perhaps I am expecting too much. It certainly isn't hard to find someone with twenty or thirty years of experience---one year repeated twenty or thirty times!

You know I can understand someone being miffed at how long a preorder takes if they were actually charged for the merchandise at the time of preorder but Flex doesn't do that. Common sense would tell you that they are just as anxious to get the radio to you as you are to have it. All those preorders are money in limbo for them. You guys are lucky you don't also have model railroading as a hobby. Preordering models is the norm there. Most are limited runs so if you don't preorder, you don't get one and sometimes it takes over a year or more before you finally see the merchandise. Oh, and if enough folks don't preorder, they simply don't make the model.

Tim ... I know this is the company line now ... BUT

It is kind of difficult to NOT make forward looking statements while asking
your potential customers to PREORDER.
Ie: there was a V/U product announcement with lots of details and I got an order confirmation on Oct 29 last year stating I would get an email as soon as it shipped ... that led me to believe that it wouldn't take too long. So
let's be reasonable ... if you want pre-orders, isn't it fair that you at
least tell people something ...especially if they have been "PREORDERED" for nearly 8 months? Telling customers that it'll be ready when its ready seems
not only a little bit arrogant, but could possibly hurt Flex's Reputation
and Sales. I don't think anybody wants you to compromise quality ... we
would simply like some factual progress reports.

I worked in the custom automation business for years ... and I know "stuff
happens" ... but if I told any of my customers "it'll be ready when its
ready" there would have lots of fireworks.

So while I do understand Flex's point of view ... I hope Flex understands
their "Customers"(emphasis on the customers) point of view.

FlexRadio has stopped making forward looking announcements related to ship
dates for hardware and software products, so you are not going to hear
anything until products are actually shipping.

When the FLEX-VU5K and the FLEX-1500 become fully available, there will be
PLENTY of announcements on the reflectors, web site and you will get a
personal notification or a shipping notice from FlexRadio when your order
ships or is ready for integration. They will be shouting this from the
rooftops too :-)

I know for a fact that every bit of energy is being applied by the
engineering and software development teams in resolving the gating issues
for delivery of PowerSDR v2, the FLEX-1500 and the FLEX-VU5K. They are
working as hard and as fast as they can, but they are not going to sacrifice
quality for a rushed delivery.
