My guess is that you've got mplayer set to use fullscreen. This is probably 
something that should go on the wiki, don't use -fs. Instead really on freevo 
setting up the correct size of the window, same goes for xine.

The 'd' button actually I think, but also xine doesn't show that screen, yet.

I've been thinking the same, especially for the mini-EPG, this would be a good

osddesigner'. I did put some info up on the wiki for this as well.
