Ok, I'll give that a try. I'm currently on irc trying to get the rel-1 
recordserver working with current kaa svn which seems to be broken.

Fair enough, I know it's been debated on the lists a few times which 
should do which.

I've been using the button bar plugin for a long time now, it's great. I 
have to say I still use the 'e' key mapped to the button labelled i on 
my remote, probably just because the coloured buttons are right down the 
bottom and it's more natural to press i which is just beside the 
play/pause/stop cluster at the top. Maybe I should get out of that habit 
as the button bar has (potentially) a nicer look to it.
