Been running freevo on my SS40G for awhile now and can confirm that the little box performs really good. The url you mentioned has most of the information about getting the system up and running. If you're gonna use the onboard SiS VGA chipset checkout http://www.winischhofer.net for more information about the SiS VGA chipsets and Linux.
