I only tried navigation mode once, briefly, so I can't really testify to what happens with my AT&T Galaxy S3 in that respect.
My main beef with Google currently is that despite major complaints, including a person pointing out the dangers to someone as a result of revealing rather publicly with whom they've been "hanging out", is that it is still true that Google+ logs your hangouts in your list of activities.
