Hey Guys,

Sorry for resurrecting an old topic, but I was thinking about this over the
last week, and did not get a chance to respond. I noticed no one talked
about database languages as a possibility for your next language to learn.

I have been working with databases for the last 10 years, but have worked
with at least 10 different user interfaces during that time.

In other words, CF can be seen as just another front-end user interface to
get data in and out of databases, but computer-based databases have been in
general use since mainframes became a standard business tool in the 1970s,
and are probably here to stay. This is the "information age" after all.

If you want to learn a technology that will be around for quite a while,
then focus on the database end of things. For example, learn the advanced
PL/SQL that comes with Oracle or learn the advanced T-SQL that comes with
MS Sequel server. Good DBAs are in demand, and probably will be for the
next decade or more. Just ask Hal!
