I absolutely agree here Patrick. The concept is the at the core of
development, the language is just the tool to implement that concept. If
you know the concepts the language is a breeze.

This is not necessarily true... There are far fewer CF developers than those
working with ASP. If I needed to hire someone to do server side scripting I
would first look for server side scripting experience, regardless of the
language. This is the consensus from many of my colleagues as well.
Just my thoughts.

Maybe, but it doesn't help when you're looking for work, otherwise ASP
programmers would be hired to do CF work, and vice versa. And that typically
doesn't happen in the real world (at least not that I've seen). So learning
PHP, or VBScript when you already know CF shouldn't be considered a waste of
time. (Learning ASP/JScript, on the other hand, should almost always be
considered a waste of time. =:) )
Somebody earlier mentioned learning database stuff. That's a good direction
to head if you're not already fluent in SQL.
