We have Checkpoint Express FW-1 NG AI R55 with Hotfix 18 running on an HP ML370 G3 server with 1GB memory.
For several weeks now the server has been crashing fairly regularly, at random, with fw.sys identified as the culprit in the BSOD. This only happens Monday to Friday during office working houses. Somedays it doesn't crash at all, others it crashes up to eight times. We have tried Checkpoint Support but so far they haven't provided any solutions. Any suggestions or help would be very much appreciated. It has been suggested it might be a load issue, although software that crashes when it is busy is hardly confidence-building. Processor load does go up to 80 per cent but averages at 5-10 per cent. We do get messages in Event Log about our license only being for 500 hosts and if this isn't right to contact Checkpoint. We only have 350 hosts configured. I have cleared the hosts file in FW-1 in case this is an issue. It has been suggested to us that if Checkpoint software sees more hosts than licensed for it affects performance of results in machine crashes - although again this hardly seems a customer-friendly response. Because fw.sys is detailed in the BSOD and the memory address is the same we have tested the memory and it passes all tests. Any help very much approciated.
