Woah. Grammer nazi. > Bull&*%$. Your surge protector will not help you. Most people think that a > simple 15k joule protector will render them safe..but they are wrong. It > takes > about a $600 surge protector to give you 90% safety on a home computer. Those > $35 power strips that you get at officemax do little or nothing. This isn't true. It just isn't. If you really think it is true, back it up with hard data, until then I'll have to respectfully disagree. You do not need a $600 surge protector to get 90% safety from normal spikes /surges/short brownouts... More like $100-$150, which generally will include enough of a battery backup to take care of the short brownouts. Even a $20 surge protector (el cheapo power strip) will take care of most things- the difference is that the $20 one will often only handle something fairly nasty once, and then burn out, even though it still passes current and the light is on. > Radar systems and computers are very different beasts. And the term is > "wreak" > not "reek." I was an industrial engineer and I was also on the powermac 8500 > des/dev team. I do not speak from ignorance. Dear god, the powermac 8500 dev team? Heh, we used to joke about what the hell apple was thinking when they designed the 8500 and 6500. Now I know. ;) > I inform the people who chose to listen to me. That is all. I give them > facts. Sometimes wonder why I waste my time on these lists at all. every > year it is the same thing. Poor kyle. Thank you for deigning to give the world your greater knowledge, at great personal sacrifice. :) Michael Bryan Bell ------------------ ICQ: 16106263 Yahoo: mhbell1 No Link for you!
