I've had problems with every drive known to man, including recent problems with a 40 gig Maxtor that I got on sale from Compusa. It turned out to be a corrupted disk driver which I was able to reinstall using Drive Setup. The weird thing was that OS X 10.1.5 was on the drive on a separate partition and would boot fine but the other partition (OS 9.1) would hang before the Happy Mac even showed. I had tried everything (Norton, Tech Tool Pro, Disk First Aid, etc) before I finally decided to update the disk driver. Good luck, John Wilson

But we've seen one person on this list berate Maxtor for a real hard time in getting warranty help. I'm very happy with my Seagate Barracuda 40GB second hard drive; haven't heard it.
