I'm in the same boat as you. Recently I bought a 350 rev. 1 model for one dead president. Using a SIIG card did not change. It still gave me Kernal Panics while running a screen saver, opening a text file, even when repairing permission. Good thing I paid next to nothing. At this stage, I'm tempted to just gut out for parts.
I feel your pain - but maybe it's time to move on. Why not switch to another B & W - even a G4? They're more affordable now - thanks to Mac Minis.
