In my work I have found that the one class of folks who had the MOST
problem with OS X were die-hard OS 9 users; truth be told, there's
more like OS 9 in OS X than not, but it's that very closeness that
trips people up, I think. People switching from Windows expect more
change, and so are better at adapting.

This is interesting to me and I guess I will know more about the differences one day. At the moment, I cannot actually /see/ the "majority" of similarities. We need to get a few things straight in any analysis of this, the first being the importance of any characteristic in which they are similar (things shared with almost all systems like desktop aliases or shortcuts hardly can count. From where I am standing all the fundamental operations are different, window management particularly, no drop down of what programs are open, you look in this dinky over cute Disney dock (at least in Windows in this feature they just have a small neat line and no fanfare). Changing what a bunch of files should open in is rather different, searching the file system is different and many other things. I am not here saying X is bad in any of this, rather that in a whole bunch of the important things, it is very different to 9. And naturally it is the important things that count most! But I am still open to argument on all this.
