G'day David.

My point was that selecting ANY app in the Command-tab mode leaves windows minimized in the Dock, or hidden, depending on the state they were left in.

Wereas ASM <reactivates> Docked or hidden windows AS you select an App. Much neater.

I've known about Command-tab for yonks, but simply prefer ASM.

I suggest anyone try the ASM trial if they like the Command-tab option, especially if you close windows and leave the Apps running in the background or in the Dock, such as mail, iTunes, Safari, Acquisition, all of which stay open without a window.

If you trial ASM than you need to set 'Show in Menu Bar' in its preferences.

This is not true on my machine (Tiger). This is what you do:

While holding command down, you press tab just once. All the open apps appear. To select the app you want to come to the fore (meaning the menu item right of apple menu shows the name of the app etc), you press the tab key again and again till you get to the one in the list you want. To go real fast, if you have a lot of open apps, you hold the tab key down.
