It's almost NEW?
Try talking to Pioneer. You can't be any worse off (Unless you have an
almost ready to pop ulcer).
These manufacturers are aware of 'Reputation', and most try to maintain
good relations with the 'user' community. They may be able to help
you. NOT necessarily a swap for another drive, but there may be a
'flash' firmware update that cures things (back to usable). Just talk
to them.

You may have just run into an occurrence of said 'failure mode'.
