This is crux of it really. For many RMS has very much created that unpleasant atmosphere full of people acting nasty, and a few decades on, some people, notably those that do significant amounts of work on a project he may have been part of two decades ago, no longer want any kind of association between their work product and the toxic environment of 'people acting nasty'
that he (for a multitude of reasons) engenders. We are done here.
