Dustin, you are missing the point. The mailing list and an hour once a month
is not enough. I started the Newbie Hour just a few months ago and even so,
I was not able to schedule a Newbie Hour before every previous meeting since
then. The Newbie Hour is not enough for their needs. I've been asked by
Newbies that it would be more helpful if they could lasso me for a few hours
and ask questions while they are at their machines. I've even made a
housecall for a newbie to help him out. It would be more efficient to have a
regular monthly series of meetings that are geared towards newbies, and the
Clickers Linux SIG is a better way of doing that. All the Clickers want is
for some local Linux users to help them out. By coincedence, BRLUG has local
Linux users.

I wasn't talking about the presenters necessarily, and it was said
tongue-in-cheek. My point is that we are talking over the heads of the
newbies, pure and simple.

How? Why? Is Linux going to be used up if there are two groups in Baton
Rouge that are interested in Linux? Are you volunteering to offer more,
Dustin?

When they do come, I get the feeling that they need more than I am giving
them. Feel free to help out if you would like. I've asked NUMEROUS times for
volunteers to help out and even tried to bribe them with VIDEOS of CHINESE
MONKS doing incredible FEATS of KUNG FU, but it hasn't generated much (any)
help ('cept for Nate (thanks, Nate!)). The Clickers kind of newbies, I
suspect, want formal, well-prepared introductory training sessions and
tutorials, which I haven't given them.

Um, what? You said earlier: "I don't see any harm either way to be honest."
Do you mean no harm to BRLUG? I really want to know what you mean by
"spreading the Linux user base a bit thin".
