[gentoo-user] emerge questions

Hi there

It seems that I misundestood something about emerge usage.
Let's say if I need to set custom ./configure options for some ebuild, I should do as following:
#export USE='--with-some-option=value'
But it doesn't work in my case...
What am I doing wrong?
