I haven't read the install docs in a long time, but the partition layout described are purely a suggestion. If you only have a single partition that will do nicely. I believe there is some special code to handle the automatic mounting of /boot for special cases, but I wouldn't worry too much if you don't have a /boot (my laptop now , and when I can be arsed desktop and 2 servers, mount /boot ReadOnly). > Second question which I am sure many of you asked.
