Tried this with Gentoo 1.4 (although I actually needed to pass "gentoo noapic"). The first time it rebooted automatically after "---- Detected usb-storage hardware" and the second time it just hung at "INIT: Entering runlevel: 3". :-( Then tried with the Gentoo 2.6 Live CD and it booted!!! Now I just have to read some installation manuals (I hope).
