I love app-portage/ufed, but it was late in recognizing the new location of make.conf. I worked around the problem like this: $ls -l /etc/make.conf lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 22 Dec 9 2012 /etc/make.conf -> /etc/portage/make.conf I should check to see if the simlink is still needed, but I'll fetch another beer instead :)
