I've was (and still am) really smitten with Dennis Wood and his Boylan Heights mapping project. I really like the mapping of unusual things, memory maps, and maps of fictional or modified places.

(His wikipedia entry is rather weak, but there is a nice interview/summary of the project in this episode: http://www.thislife.org/pages/descriptions/98/110.html).

I'm in the early stages of researching an article about map hackers

inspired by any particular philosophies or theories of geography in

their work? Is there a Norbert Wiener or Lawrence Lessig of the

geowank world? Somebody who is geeky but also policy-minded or

philosophical, whose ideas have inspired you to make map tools or

build geolocation tech?
