I'v been using the "LIXIT" water bottles which hang straight down, no bent
nozzels. They seem to work fairly well. I'd rather have some leaking an know
that my gerbils are getting water, than have a full water bottle that won't
let the water out. I'v had that problem too : /

 >Also, where do you put food?

I also use the "LIXIT" food hopper. It hangs over the tank and holds a fair
supply of food. I never worry about them running out of chow. Some times
they work the bedding up high enough to cover the access cup. But, no big
deal. They know where their HOARD is ;0)

Take a look at this web page. It has many suggestions for gerbil
accessories, including an exercise wheel.

A ten gallon tank, or larger, really is the best setup for gerbils. It's
almost, (I do mean almost) escape proof.

Good luck,
