Those lids come in both plastic and metal, and although the metal ones are harder to secure with the clips (I do not use the clips), they are more sturdy and hold the occasional 12 lb cat well. <G>. Also, there are plastic ones with little sliding doors. Not a good idea...I have had several hang from the plastic in the middle and chew enough off that they have door partially opened the door. I now realize that they are built in escape hatches. They also usually cost more. The plain metal wire mesh ones I find for $10 at either Petco (not PetSmart), at a local pet store (same price).
