FWIW, I just setup a 3Com AirConnect (3CRWE737A) Wireless LAN card in my
thinkpad (Linux only). It works with the Spectrum24t driver (not included
in the regular pcmcia-cs distribution, you have to grab the driver from
the contrib
directory: ftp://pcmcia-cs.sourceforge.net/pub/pcmcia-cs/contrib/).
It seems work fairly well, I can't get the encryption to work. It just
causes a kernel panic every time, but w/o the encryption it's great. At
work we have the base stations but these cards can also do just simple
point-to-point so I'm thinking of buying one for home, the base stations
are expensive but the cards aren't to bad.
