This thread was dead for three years, but thanks for keeping the dream alive. 

Hate Go's style as much as you want, avoid Go because of this, it doesn't 
matter.

gofmt's only purpose is so that by having the uniformity of the source code, 
everyone that can write Go code can do so anywhere. You instantly read the same 
layout in your code, in your old company's code and, even more important, in 
Go's own code.

Let this sink in. You can just focus on understanding the code because you 
don't have to waste time with different formats of the same language.

And that's a magnificent thing. You can literally jump between all Go code 
bases and in the world and it reads all the same. Aside from Python (probably) 
you can't do that with any other language.

So please, stop this nonsense already.

On a more serious note, is there no way to just close the thread as an admin? 
If it is, please do so.
