Either disable autodetect in the video driver and/or look into if the monitor is handling PM (APM? DPMI? where are we these days?) properly.
Only time I hit the moving thing is if I RDP in which jams my 2 desktops into 1 & leaves it that when when I disconnect. Come to think of it I should track down a fences like app to auto-move them back...
