Oh, I thought you were talking about continuous use. I have co-workers who use those Microsoft Unnatural keyboards. For brief use, I'll put up with any keyboard.
Hardware-wise, the IBM Thinkpad T series was wonderful. If I could run OS/X on it I'd be happy.
What you arent brave enough to do the Hackintosh thing? (/me is kidding, i am sure you *are* brave enough, and much braver than I am).
I use a Mac so I don't have to deal with that shit. I'm not a fan of the global menu bar, but when I was using two heads I found a hack that duplicated the menu bar. It's less of a hassle than having to deal with sound on Linux or just about ANYTHING outside the box on Windows. And OS X has the most scriptable GUI environment since Plan 9.
