The question is whether make should be ported at all. For building

Of course, the situation is more difficult in case of the ported
software which requires make. Maybe we could use PyMake:
https://github.com/mozilla/pymake
Or try porting the real make. Or something else. Or do not insist that
it should be possible to build the toolchain from within HelenOS.
I think in general people have tried building things from /src/c/demos,
so you will be a pioneer if you go a bit farther.
Sadly, I will not be able to participate in SoCiS. Turns out that
Croatia is the only EU member that has not yet signed any agreements
with ESA, making me an ineligible candidate. I should've done more
reasearch earlier. The condition is that the institution that I am
enrolled in is in a "partner" country, and I am enrolled in a Croatian
University.
I have sent an email to Maxime Perrotin to find out if there are any
workarounds, but the response was negative. Then, I asked if I can be an
"official" participant without getting paid, because that is the actual
issue, but have not yet received any response.
However, I don't intend to drop this project completely. I probably
won't start for real before my semester ends, and I probably won't spend
as much time on it as proposed, but I would like to see it through.
