Milton, not let us being carried away. The design in question has not more to
do with the swastika
that both designs are a cross, if simplificated, a cross with short arms or
curved arms or elaborated
rather branch-like arms. The rounder arms as in the fascist cross or in the
Germanic crosses, or as
symbolized wheel, etc.

As I did not find it in my old Alexander catalogues & not in the Heyde book,
would you be so kind,
taking a picture with your mobile perhaps & send it to me via attachement.

After receiving it, I surely can give you the right answer.

But I remember, that many regular valve caps of older horns had a similar
engraving. A person wanting to
see a swastika will be able to see a swastika in every wheel liker design,
special if the piece has come
from Germany. This kind of a view must be revised. Alexander & many other
makers chose this kind of
design for symmetry reason, as they had to decorate a disc & did not want to
decorate it with simple circles
& dots. So they used some kind of a branched wheel, a rather floral design.
This kind of design can be
found on horns from the 19th cent.

I personal find it absurd, to seek for swastikas where a swastika might not
make any sense.

Send me the picture. It might work faster than to wait for the reply from Mainz
tomorrow.
