"Desert west of LA"? As Marisa Tomei said in My Cousin Vinny, "Are you
shooo-ah??" Maybe they shot you full of happy-juice and took you to
Area 51, then made you forget most of it...

I pointed out in a reply that was a error I meant east of LA. Landing in LA at 
11:30 at night and getting on the expressway is NOT for the feint of heart type 
people. With a very sketchy map and no sense of direction and no compass in the 
car I was scared. Driving on LA freeways in the day is scary. In chicago the 
directions are usually easy to find (except in the burbs). 
BTW just to correct a minor error that posted  is this I flew into was NOT LAX 
but a smaller airport north(?) of LA it began with a "B" (Burbank I think) and 
that is all I can remember. I will not comment on locations other than vague 
east or west. 
I have a friend that has worked at area 51 (or what ever its real name is) and 
to hear him talk its a snore.
