Couldn't agree more with Jack. My iMacDV just recently lost its display and P.A.V. board. Had it taken care of under AppleCare. Would've been a ton of money otherwise.
Also had the sticky power button on the front of the machine fixed under Applecare. Although this is an issue with the DV's Apple isn't freely admitting to it. Hope its finished with breaking down because my AppleCare runs out the middle of February. Extended warranties on vcr's, tv's and the like are pretty useless these days but for your Macintosh its definitely something to purchase. Go for it!!! Usually they will both mail, and e-mail reminders, however, if the anniversary is close and they haven't, you can sign up on your own. Easiest using the 800 line. Certainly a worthwhile ounce of prevention with an expensive LCD display. It's not as expensive as it seems, since you receive a copy of Tech Tool Deluxe as part of the Apple Care package, and that's $90.00 if you just bought it outright.
